I was thinking a similar thing, worrying about the answer, when my wife went into labor.
After she gave birth to Aubrey and they were both resting, I went on a short walk to clear my head and figure out what I was going to do.
While I walked, I scrolled aimlessly through my phone, not knowing what to do.
Then, I came across a quote that cracked my brain wide open:
“What can you do today that will have a positive impact on your business two weeks from now?”
Honest to God, I can’t remember who the quote was from (I thought it was ZIg Ziglar, but I haven’t been able to find it again).
But that quote made me realize something important that I wasn’t paying attention to: I was working so much because I wasn’t budgeting my time properly!
It was right then that I realized, ‘If it takes two weeks for a change to make a difference, then I can’t wait around to keep checking how it’s doing. I need to just keep moving forward and instituting changes, and then I’ll just see those results when they happen!’
I started making a list of all the things I did in a day, and I realized something:
MOST of my time in a day was spent planning to do something or checking in on how something was working AFTER I did it.
The actual tasks themselves didn’t take very long. Sometimes, as little as five minutes!
